desktop does not fill up entire tv diplay

Specs: Windows 7 64 bit
desktop doesn't fill entire tv screen (close but no cigar) it has black bars on top, bottom, and sides. changing the resolution does not fix the problem.... i only wish my tv was like a monitor in that there was always a menu button on the monitors back in the good old days that allowed you to expand or contract the display in horizontal and vertical to fit your screen. Any suggestions?

Happens to me when I run Dual Monitor with my TV. Resolution on my monitor is 1600x900 and TV is 1920x1080, But background shows as you described at my monitors res.

Unfortunately, I don't have a fix myself unless you switch the TV to the default display. Mine works like that but cocks up my icons etc so not worth it. It isn't too much of a big deal for me, Although if there is a way it would be nice to know. :)

Depending on your graphics card, you should adjust overscan to 0%. That should take care of your problem.

I have AMD Radeon. I can adjust overscan through CCC.
