Dell XPS laptop freezes for no reason at all

Specs: Windows 7, 6000
hi , ive got a Dell XPS L501 with 6000mb of ram core i7, on startup when im logged into my desktop roughly 20 seconds later it freezes (when the laptops cold) and sometimes might randomly freeze up. im getting no error warnings and other then that it rund smooths.

is this a RAM error?

always 100% freezes when installing updates during shutdown, any help will be much appreciated

im testing it now
so far 61% no errors for 2gb
and 60% no errors for 2gb

i have run the memtest for about 2hrs on each stick
* 2gb
*4gb
no errors detected but it still does the same thing
ive checked the fans, updated drivers, looked for bubbled resisters aswell but still nothing.

is this a fresh install?
did it work before?
have you tried a system restore?
monitor the temps with speedfan.
take out 1 stick of ram, run a boot and use the computer then do the same with the other stick.
make sure you have the ram in the right slots.
save files and try a factory restore.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
