Are you aware that when resetting the system to factory status you will lose all your personal files, and any applications you installed after you received the Dell?

So before you do a reset… copy all your files to external media - typically DVD. Check the copies are accessible too on at least one other working system - if possible. The put them in a safe place.

After-which do your reset…?

Should you need it… the user manual can be found here:

ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-17-n7010_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

http://www.dell.com/support/Manuals...

(The user manual will tell you all the options related to reset to factory status.)

and this is the service manual:
