Solved Dell laptop won't recognize any USB mouse

Specs: Windows 7
I have a Dell laptop a little over a year old. I took it and used it with the wireless mouse at a nearby house yesterday and when I plugged it in again at home, it wouldn't recognize the wireless mouse. I changed the battery on the mouse, no luck. Got a new mouse, no luck. The usb ports all work with flash drives but not with any mouse. Tried a mouse with a wire and also no luck.
Did a system restore and no luck there, either. What next? There's no driver, it's supposed to automatically install.

Is it listed as working in the device manager?

It doesn't show up under the device manager. Only the keypad mouse is listed.

It may appear obvious to some, but did you try a cold restart with the mouse plugged in and see if it was recognized then? On a desktop a mouse is not recognized if it is plugged in after windows is running though most laptops don't have a problem with this (probably because the touch pad is the primary input for this), but maybe yours is acting just weird and this may help.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I could have sworn I tried that, but you know, I did it again, and it worked! Thank you SO much.
