Dell, IDT, audio driver problems

January 1, 2012 at 00:00:02
Specs: Windows 7, 4G
Just got a Vostro 1450, but can't work out the crazy IDT software.

Every other laptop I have used automatically detects a headphone with microphone and automatically uses those speakers and headphones.

When you un-plug, it automatically goes back to internal micraophone and speakers

But This Vostro does not. I have tried re-installing Windows 7, re-installing the driver, but nothing works.

Every time I plug in the headset this stupid IDT software comes up, and I have to manually choose the exterior microcphone.

When I un-plug the headset, I have to manually choose the internal microphone. I do this through Skype, but the problem persists when Skype is turned off.

Can anyone help with this? Its driving me crazy

Thanks

If IDT is controlling the audio jacks for some reason, have you tried uninstalling IDT?
