Are you saying the laptop MB died and you are trying to boot the drive in a different computer?

Due to Windows installations tying the license key to the motherboard and processor you can't pull the drive and boot in a different computer. What you are seeing is the BSOD when the boot process tries to detect the motherboard it was installed with.

The only fix is to repair the Dell or extract the files from the drive. You will not be able to boot the system.

You can extract any files you need by connecting it as a secondary drive on your Vista system, but do not attempt to boot to it. If you replaced the board on your laptop with the same model, then it would be bootable again.
You can ATTEMPT to REPAIR your windows installation with a windows 7 install disk (not a recovery disk or recovery partition) and then change out drivers for the new hardware, but it will probably fail, and even if it is apparently successful, it will not pass after the first update is applied.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
