Specs: Windows Vista, 2.2 GHz/ 2.0 G Ram
I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop (2.2 GHz CPU + 2.0 G Ram) running on Vista, but I don't like Vista.
I have Dell Win 7 professional and XP professional reinstallation CDs from Dell desktop PCs.
Can I upgrade to Win 7 or downgrade to XP using the CDs?
Thank you for your help.

I doubt it unless they are a special type that maybe a large company or school district might own.

Dell may offer an upgrade disk, you may have qualified for maybe a $20 upgrade and may not know it.

One may wish simply keep Vista until you consider a new computer, a new W7 disk would be a waste of money in my opinion.

you may create another partition and try to install the win 7, although you will require a key, which you will have to buy, student discounts may still be on offer.
you could also install xp on a second partition but you will then need to repair vista to have dual boot.

you could try to upgrade with the win7 from vista, you will require an upgrade key from dell .
this may fail and you will then have to do a factory restore from the original hidden partition.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

If your family has other computers that are windows 7 compatible and want to upgrade at the right price, you can purchase a Windows 7 upgrade family pack and split the cost:
