I recently upgraded Vista to Windows 7. My printer stopped working. I installed new driver from both DELL and Windows sites, yet it still tells me it is not communicating. Can you please assist?
Thanks a million.
Since you installed two sets of drivers, it might be a driver conflict. Uninstall the printer and start over.
i had a canon printer that was supported with windows vista but is not supported with windows 7. check at your printer website if they even have a driver for windows 7.
or you can try install the printer from the list within windows 7 (when u install u can choose to install the driver manually, and their you can choose the manufacture and model), if the printer does not listed there, there is a chance your printer is not supported with win7
I just upgraded to Windows 7 and now my HP1505 laser printer - the drivers will not install. It says they have installed, and they are listed as a driver, but the printer does not appear on the list of printers in the control panel. The troubleshoots keeps telling me that I need to install the printer, but when I try to, it stops on the last step. Please help as this is my workhorse printer.
jacki You need to start your own thread here. Post it in the hardware forum and give all your system specs.

When using a USB printer the normal installation procedure is to install the drivers BEFORE connecting the printer.
Disconnect the printer and then uninstall all drivers and other printer software. Re-boot and then install the drivers. If, at some point you are instructed to connect the printer then do so. Otherwise install all the drivers and then connect the printer.
