Custom-built Win7 desktop PC fails startup

Specs: Windows 7
Hi, recently i've been having a problem where when i turn on my pc (running windows 7), it gets past the BIOS fine, then starts "loading windows" but about halfway through it freezes and i can't do anything. It then flashes me a brief BSOD and restarts but only to have the same thing happen again. The strange thing is that if at any point in this process i turn off the pc by holding down the power button, when i turn it on again it works perfectly. But i know this is not ideal so i want to know what is going wrong on startup.
By the way I have a 650w Cooler master power supply so i doubt that is the problem as the whole sytem is only 6 months old anyway.
I hope someone can help me?
