Looks like the CPU is occupied with something else at that time. If you keep the TASK MANAGER open, on the process tab, any process standing out (high CPU) at the time this event happens?

And it may be that you have a few unwanted guest/items running too - pests etc.

Might be useful to run the following utilities; all free, safe to use, regularly recommended here.

http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...

And also perhaps run the Kaspersky Rescue Disk routine - which I mention in the response below Derek's.

Note that JRT instals to the desktop from where you run it. It will open into a dos style window; follow the instructions therein. It will reboot the system as part of its process.

Also do not instal any of the utilities (or any other software downloaded off the web) using the default "automatic" option. Use the manual/custom option; and carefully watch for and uncheck any pre checked boxes - other than the one for the actual utility itself. That way you avoid installing all manner of stuff you neither need nor want. Some of it a true pain to eradicate... Some of that stuff can/will run in the background and you'll not be aware of it.

Is this a wired USB optical mouse? Or wireless or battery-operated?
