Specs: Windows 7
External hard drive was formatted on TV (Panasonic) TV will recognise the hard drive but PC wont. the hard drive is a 500mb Trancend

Mmm A panasonic tv that formats hard drives... Perchance do you mean a Panasonic tv dvd recorder formatted the drive?

I think the format used in many - if not all - such recorders may be either a propriety one or possibly a Unix/Linux variant?

As trvlr indicated, the DVRs use propietory formats that can't be read by a computer. That is all about Digital Rights Management.

In other words, either use it for the TV/VCR or use it for the computer (by reformatting it). Purchase another external drive if you need it for both purposes.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
