Computer starts goes off,and hard to restart

December 2, 2010 at 13:20:21
Specs: Windows 7, 4 gig
My pc was vista but was so troublesome that we upgraded to Windows 7 Home Edition. Now it works fine...if it can start up and stay on. A few minutes after start up, and I'm doing something like checking email or just playing hearts, the screen goes black saying "no signal". The on light of the pc stays on but nothings happening. I wait and still nothing so I manually turn the pc off and try starting it again. Sometimes nothing, just the led light goes on. Other times it'll start up, all looks well then shut off. So I keep trying till the computer finally stays on (like now). These are my specs

It sounds like you have a faulty graphics onboard or plug in card.

I do not see specs, but I do agree it does sound like graphics (or possibly memory).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.

did you activate the key for windows 7? If not, it does real weird things after the trial is over.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

i am prone like the other guys to aim at the video card, open your computer and clean the dust off, especially from the video card, if indeed it has a video card, it maybe that fan and vent are all blocked with dust and its just overheating..you can also download speedfan (its free) and monitor your temperatures FIRST, how long have you had this computer?
it may just be full of dust.
you said you had problems with vista, what problems?
this could also be a memory/cpu issue, download and run memtest, or orphos they will check the memory and /or the cpu for issues.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
