Hi

We have just upgraded our server from 2003 to 2008 and for some reason our client windows 7 sometimes it is very slow as when the machine is at the login stage or the user have already logged I see the HD light continuously on and doing something for a long time. Then after a while the HD activity stops and its ok again. SOmetime this takes 20-30mins

I have not setup to do any windows update and I have turned off any schedule scan or weekly scan from Symantec. I see this happening on every machine from time to time even from a restart. IT was doing this when we before the upgrade so I don't think it's related.

Any idea?

Thanks

If it is happening to all machines which are on domain, then check you Group Policy and log-on scrips. if your clients have any network drives to connect at start-up try disabling those. If it is possible for you, remove one problem machine from domain and see how it behaves then. Also, you can join known good machine to your domain and see if that issues start to appear on it.
