Specs: Windows 03.03.2010
okay, so i have many problems with my computer, and i dont know what i did. First of all: i cant download the latest version of itunes, so that i can transfer my songs to my itouch.as a matter of fact, not only itunes, but firefox, and others.
second of all:: i have spybot, search and destroy, and i called in a pro and he told me to immunize, but it says i have to "run it as an adminstrator" and so i set my settings, and it still wont work.
third:: this is just a question, but does it matter if i have firefox and explorer? is that messing up my computer in any way?
fourth:: i have a belkin wireless router, and my itouch just wont connect to it! i know the password, and when im at my freinds house, it works just fine, so i dont see the problem
please please help me with my computer!!! especially with this economy, i cant afford a new computer, and i need it for my job, so i dont want to screw this up! haha, thanks in advance(:

Are these your general spec's:
Sony VAIO Digital Studio PCV-RZ46G

REVIEW DATE:02.03.04

# Product: Sony VAIO Digital Studio PCV-RZ46G
# Specs: 3.2-GHz Intel Pentium 4, 1GB DDR SDRAM, 200GB hard drive, DVD±RW drive, CD-RW drive, nVidia GeForce FX 5600 graphics, Gigabit Ethernet, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

Are you using XP media center? or have you upgraded to Windows 7, and If you upgraded: 1- Did you do a compatibility scan? 2- Did you do a clean install (format and install fresh)? Or did you try to just upgrade install? Did you download new drivers? What version?
Yes. these are important, as well as any hardware upgrades.
About the only thing I can tell you for sure, is that Firefox and Internet Explorer co-exist very well together. For everything else, we need more information.

with so many issues, i would recommend a complete reinstall of your operating system,
Sony VAIOs have a hidden recovery partition which can be accessed by pressing F10 on booting.
Sony do not usually provide recovery disks.
Sony recovery disks can be requested from Sony Technical Support,
Sony do provide a Recovery Disk Wizard to enable you to create your own, but it is probably too late for you to run this wizard at this stage.
so advise saving as many personal files as you want, and then do a full recovery, this will wipe your c;/drive and reinstall your system to the day you bought it, then you can tranfer the files you saved (make sure you run a full scan of all saved files for virus's)

im sorry, but i am only 13 years old, and my parents are foreign, so they cant really help me, and i dont know where to find all of the information to help you guys out.

and if i did reinstall everything like the day i bought the computer, would i lose all of my saved data? such as all of the songs i imported in itunes? if so, how could i keep them safe?

A few options for saving your personal files.
1- burn them to DVD-r or CD-r recordable disks
2- purchase a USB flash drive large enough for your files (4Gb start under $20.00)
3- purchase or borrow an external hard drive

If you decide to go with the recovery option (response 2 above) you will restore to the original configuration as you received it new. You will need to update windows (probably more than once) and reinstall any programs you added (make sure you have disks, or download installers and save with your files for easy access). And make sure you have a good antivirus program installed, right after updating windows.

you would only have to put in the wep key when you first connect to the wifi...which you will probably find as a sticker somewhere on the wifi access point/modem or on the paperwork that came with the modem.
shouldnt be difficult for a 13yr old..

If your CD drive is also a DVD burner (very possible) then that would cover you better. One CDr is 700Mb or so, but one DVDr holds 4.7Gb so it would be a better choice. If you have or can buy or borrow a large enough USB flash drive, that would be easier and faster (and erasable if borrowed). A borrowed external hard drive will also work well.

you may also have two partitions on your hard drive c;/ and d;/ you can save to d:/ as the recovery will only delete the c;/ drive, although dvd,s work well, or you could also invest in a external hard drive, they are pretty cheap and can save you a lot of problems

second of all:: i have spybot, search and destroy, and i called in a pro and he told me to immunize, but it says i have to "run it as an adminstrator" and so i set my settings, and it still wont work.
right click on the app and choose run as admin, it maybe that you need to tell spybot to delete some files, once you have deleted the offending files, set spybot to delete automatically. that should save you time in the future..

as for not been able to connect to your belkin router, try pulling the power plug on the router wait 30 sec's then power up again..you should get a connection, it could also be that your router is set with to allow only certain mac address, or can only give one ip address at a time, you would have to log into the router as admin and add your mac address or change the settings to allow more than one connection..

so it seems to me that you have a high learning curve ahead of you, a lot of stuff you will find in the how to's at the top of the page, give that a search before you try anything you dont feel secure with..

if your running internet explorer, you may have to click the small gold/cream coloured bar at the top of the open window where it may say do you want to allow this download, if you cant download at all, maybe there is a child safety lock in place, then you will need to log in as the administrator and allow, or if you are an adminitrator, try creating another account and see if that can down load.
