If the address bar is on your Windows Task Bar then right click on a blank spot on the Task Bar and move up to Tool Bars and over to the Address tool bar and remove the check mark. Then Lock the Task Bar.
If you have a second address bar in your browser then right click on the top bar or the particular tool bar that is showing the extra one and uncheck it there.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you mean clear out any reference to previously typed web addresses then I'd use Ccleaner:

I suggest getting the slim version of CCleaner or you'll get stuck with some crappy tag-along software such as Yahoo toolbar or Google Chrome:
