Clear favorities in IE8 address bar in Win 7

Hi all.

I've got Windows 7 Ultimate, and of course it comes with Internet Explorer 8.

I already know how to clear browsing history in IE. One way is to click on Safety, then Delete Browsing History, then make sure there are check marks in all the categories there, and then click on the Delete button.

Now I'm pretty sure the following feature was not in Win XP (the last OS I had). If you go to the address bar where you type in URL's, and you click on the down-arrow on the far right, you see your recent history of visited web sites BUT, also, down below that in the drop-down, there is "Favorites".

This - am I correct - is the recent favorites you've visited? When I look at the list, yes, these are the Favorites I have saved. But, they are not the recent ones I've visited.

Is there a way to "clear" these? When I do the usual way that I described above, that doesn't clear these Favorites in the drop-down menu of the address bar.

I don't want to delete my Favorites entirely; I just want them cleared from this drop-down list in the address bar. And besides, like I mentioned, it's not even a "proper" list of the favorites I've visited recently.

I'd appreciate any help or info.

Hi; thanks for the reply.

No, it's not a matter of using a "cleaner"; I've already got a system "cleaner" and that's not it.

I did a little further digging, though, and I found the solution.

Using Win 7 IE 8, you go to IE 8's "Tools", then Internet Options, then click on the Content tab, and then click on the Settings button in the Auto Complete area. In there, remove the check mark from "Favorites":

This will prevent Favorites from being saved in the drop-down menu in the address bar.
