Hi let me know if you find a fix as mine is not saving restore points. It makes them but after shutting down wipes them all. I too have just started using Windows 7.

Are you waiting long enough for windows to create a restore point?

I personally have never used or tried to test a restore point. To me they are there when all else fails, just before a clean install. As long as I keep back up on a separate drive, I do not worry too much. The only time a had a system go that bad (that far gone) I was using Windows 95. Back then Gateway tech support had to help me reinstall on the phone and I lost everything..... Learned That lesson well....Back-up, Back-up, Back-up to separate media. AND keep up with Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware - update and scan often!

When i create a restore point a window appears telling me that restore was completed successfully. When i started computing somebody told me to always check that the restore point is ready. Not a lot of point if you need to use it and it don't work.

are you allowing sufficient space on your drive for restore to crate a restore point, check in each drive how much space is allocated,i noticed that mine was not able to restore and found 0% of the drive allocated..

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
