Specs: Windows 7, 64 bit
When looking at craigslist using chrome there is no colour change (from blue to red) indicating what I have seen before. This started 2 weeks ago with an upgrade.

The website knows what you've already looked at by referring to a "cookie" file that the website previously wrote to your hard drive. If those cookies get deleted, perhaps by a cookie cleaner like Ccleaner that you might be using.

When the cookies are removed, the website has no way of knowing what you've already looked at.

Some websites can even be configured (by the user) to delete all user data (including cookies) when you close the browser, so check to see if you've done that.

Thanks for your reply. My description wasn't clear enough. If I go to Craigslist using windows internet explorer, during my visit the lines change from blue to red as I am looking. With Google Chrome the lines never change from blue to red during my Craigslist visit so I keep looking at stuff I have already seen. I have restored default settings to chrome and cookies aren't turned off.

I fixed it! I had to uninstall and reinstall google chrome. After that I could tell which ads I had looked at. Thanks for your reply.
