Solved chrome FLV runner extention is causing some program issues

February 3, 2013 at 13:43:10
Specs: Windows 7
My bank program is stuck in limbo since the new upgrade with the new toolbar in Chrome. I want to remove it so I searched for the FLV runner files and deleted them . The program is still not gone even after restarting my computer. If I can't remove it I will have to change to another browser. Chrome was great before this mess!!!!

✔ Best Answer
Deleting files is no way to remove a program or a browser extension or plugin.

To remove from Chrome depends on whether it's installed as an extension or a plugin.
If it's an extension:

Open Chrome and click the three horizontal bars at top-right.
Select Settings.
Click Extensions on the left.
If you see the FLV extension, click it's dustbin icon to remove.

If it's a plugin:

Open Chrome, type about:plugins in the address bar & press <Enter>.
If you see the FLV plugin, click it's Disable link.

You should also look in Control Panel > Programs & Features for any entries relating to FLV.

1: Run AdwCleaner
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Delete.
Confirm each time with Ok.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

1b: Run Junkware Removal Tool
Download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Warning! Once the scan is complete JRT will shut down your browser with NO warning.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Temporarily disable your antivirus and any antispyware real time protection before performing a scan. Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click JRT and select Run as Administrator
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Copy and Paste the JRT.txt log into your next message.
