cd drive eject when it's on

Specs: Windows 7
recently i used my laptop, and when i turn it on the cd drive eject and when i push it back it doesn't lock, and then i try to turn it off, push the cd drive back it works.. can someone help me to fix this

You did not supply make and model number so our answers will have to be general.
Go to 'Computer' and right click on the icon for your optical drive. Look down the listand see if you have one of the following: 'Eject' for opening the drive, and anything that indicates closing the drive. Your laptop drive probably does not have the motorized open and close of a desktop model, but what it says and does not say might give you a clue. Try even eject from there to see if the drive finally considers itself open and therefore able to close.
If that does not help you, try updating the driver for the drive from the manufacturer's website.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
