Cant save overtop of existing PDF files???

Specs: Windows 7, HP 8gigsRam
Hey everyone,

out of the blue I've been having issues saving PDF files over top of one another. I work with AutoCAD and every time I want to save a drawing as a PDF overtop of an already existing PDF it wont let me? I get an error that says, that file is already in use. It will save if I rename the file, but that's kind of a pain because then I have to go and delete the old file when all I want to do is save over top and replace the existing PDF

Hopefully this makes sense to some of you, I never had any issues with autoCAD saving over top of old files before, this just recently started about a week or two ago. im using windows 7 64bit

thanks in advance

Are you saving to the default Autocad folder? Seems like Autocad would want you to save each as a different name. You may want to revert back to an older file.

I draw in a CAD program and usually end up with multiple versions of the same drawing. I label them XYZ#1, XYZ#2 and so on. Easy to delete them once you know they won't be needed.

Hey

No I save them to a folder that I keep all my drawings in. And yes it looks like autocad wants me to save with a new name. The problem is I usually work on the same drawings multiple times and its just easier/more convenient to save over top of my old PDF's when its the same drawing.
I've been doing it this way for years, and now all of a sudden it wont let me, just very frustrating.......

any ideas?????

Does Autocad ask you to save AS or just save? Save AS means you need to use a different name. Save will overwrite the original file. Look for options in Autocad.

If you can't find an option to change that, then I recommend posting in an Autocad forum. I don't use Autocad.

Have you always saved as a PDF file? That isn't the default either is it?

The following code is to save pdf files:
public static string FolderName = "c:/";
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string fileName = FolderName + "Sample.pdf";
string fileNameAdd = FolderName + "New.pdf";

REDocument doc = REFile.OpenDocumentFile(fileName, new PDFDecoder());//use PDFDecoder open a pdf file
int pageCount = doc.GetPageCount();//get pdf's page count
Debug.WriteLine("Page Count: " + pageCount);

BasePage newPage = doc.CreateEmptyPage();//create a new page by REDocument

doc.AddPage(newPage, 2);//add a new page to REDocument

pageCount = doc.GetPageCount();//get new pdf's page count
Debug.WriteLine("Page Count: " + pageCount);

REFile.SaveDocumentFile(doc, fileNameAdd, new PDFEncoder());//save new pdf
}
