Hi leolalady,

If your cable company has disabled the internet, you would be unable to go online to re-download Google Chrome. You may open the downloads folder in your system to check if the setup is still available. Click Start > Computer. Downloads folder should be in the left panel. If you did not save the setup, you can always perform System Restore to restore the system to an earlier date when the Google Chrome was installed on the system.

Please refer to the link mentioned below:

You could download the installer using another computer, then put the Saved file on a flash drive in order to install it on this one.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"my cable company disabled Windows Internet"

If they disabled your Internet connection, then why do you want Chrome? Having an Internet browser won't do you any good if you don't have an Internet connection.

Re #3

That was exactly my initial thought.

My second thought was that the internet connection might have been disabled due to the poster using Chrome. Bit of a guess tho and I might be reading far too much into it.

I kept reading this over and over trying to figure out what is going on. I think there is a piece of the puzzle missing, hopefully the OP will come back and explain a little further.

I'm also wondering what program/diagnostic software/other told her to delete Chrome.

I have heard of ISP's temporarily disabling your account if you're infected with a nasty and it's sending out a ton of spam or dos attacking. This could explain why she was disabled from the Internet and perhaps an AV program telling her to delete Chrome, but just speculation at this point.

Can you get on line using Internet Explorer?

What exactly told you to delete Chrome?

Why did your cable company disable the internet?

Please answer all three questions - we need the answers so that we can properly advise you.

Hi leolalady,

Is there any other computer or device that can connect to internet using the same network?

Also, did you try performing system restore using the link mentioned in my previous reply?

Thanks & Regards

If you want a nice new computer then fine. However it should be quite possible to cure this issue if you want to (unless it is in some way down to your cable company). To do so we need to more clearly understand the situation, hence the reason for the unanswered questions in #7 and the first question in #8. So far the helpers seem to have mainly tried to determine your situation amongst themselves without much comment or clarification from yourself.

If you have Internet Explorer (browser) you should still be able to get online using that Chrome is just an alternative browser - not an essential for getting online.

I had the cable company come and check everything, two different men checked this and no I can't get online with internet explorer, I thought it was google chrome that sent the message to delete and reload, the tech did hook his computer up and it worked, he said I need a new computer.

Is it a laptop and is it wirelessly connected to the internet?
Have you any other computers using your network that work?
If the answers are yes, it is possible that they found the inbuilt wireless module had died. In which case then you do need a new one.

We can check a little further unless you prefer to go ahead and replace it anyway.
