Solved cant reinstall Windows XP on Windows 7 PC

Specs: Windows 7 interprise , 4gb
hi i have windows seven but im trying to re install windows xp for a job..... but when i try to install it from my desktop the intall icon is greyed out, it looks like this and when i try to shut down the computer and boot it with the f12 command it wond let me boot the cd... i was able to when i had xp as many times as i wanted.... do any one know how to fix this, im not a computer geek so im going to need simple steps.

That's normal. The Windows XP installer will disable the option to launch an installation or upgrade from a newer version of Windows.

If you can't get the computer to boot from the CD, try changing the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the CD drive first.

Don't overwrite Windows 7, shrink a 100GB or so off your hard drive and create a new partition there for installing XP on. Then when you are done you pop in the Windows 7 disk and do a start up repair and you will be able to choose which you boot to. If you plan to use XP a lot then consider adding another hard drive to install XP on.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

imy problem is solved, i just had a damage xp disc, so it kept saying boot failure.... thank u guys for the help.
