Specs: Windows 7, 3.GHz Quad- 4.00GB
when i click 'my computer' a window opens stating that:
windows explorer has stopped working.
windows is checking for a solution to the problem.
windows explorer is restarting.
after windows explorer has finished with this, the problem is still there - i can't open 'my computer'.
i have ran the windows system file checker, but to no avail, the problem is still there

Run a malware scan....even if it doesn't solve the problem, it eliminates possibilites.

I agree with the above. If you have a malware or virus infection you may need to download those programs while in Windows Safe Mode with Networking. Tap F8 at start up to get that option.

BTW, Windows 7 calls it Computer, not My Computer.

There are many hits when Googling for that error. Click on the link below.

I have been told that my son installed a movie disc he got from a friend.now i knew what to look for, by clicking start and printed c:\ i managed to erase the file.
now my computer is back to normal. i have made a restore disc & i have put a password on my computer - he is now barred from using it.
best regards to all and thanks for the help.
