Specs: Windows 7
I downloaded Norton Anti Virus 2011 onto my new Windows 7 PC. After I did that I was unable to open anything, (ie World of Warcraft, Googlechrome, Internet Explorer) The way that I was able to get online was by clicking the link that said ("Look for the Appropriet program online.") Thats from the window named ("Open With") Whats worse is I cant even do a System Restore cause it wont let me open ANYTHING. If there is anyone out there that knows anything about this, I will love you forever if you are able to help me fix beloved pc

The first thing to try would be to boot the computer into Safe Mode. Constantly tap the F8 key while the machine is booting from a cold start. You should see a screen that gives you some options. Highlight and choose Safe Mode. If it goes into safe mode, try a system restore from there. You could also try Last Known Good Configuration, which essentially does the same thing. Whatever you do, get rid of Norton. It's such a resource hog. When you get the computer up and running again, install Ms Security Essentials. It works well and is free. Good Luck.

To be sure that ALL of Norton is off of your system, you may need to download the Norton Uninstaller from their website.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
