can't log into W7 key strokes not recognized

Specs: Windows Vista
When I start up my Asus I get to the window 7 log in screen and when I try to enter password it will not recongize my keys but before it stoped reading my strokes it would tell my shuting down after I would enter the password, Please help.

If you are only having trouble with the number keypad, make sure that the number lock is on. If you have no key recognition and you are using a USB keyboard, make sure that the keyboard is plugged directly into one of your rear USB jacks directly on your motherboard (front jacks and those on hubs and expansion cards may not be active until after boot up). And make sure that USB keyboard support is active at boot up in your BIOS. Finally borrow another keyboard and see if that works.
