Cant load Wordperfect 6.1 in XP Mode in Win7

February 2, 2011 at 22:28:24
Specs: Windows 7
WordPerfect 6.1 worked fine on my old Windows XP computer. I now have a computer with Windows 7 and it has the Windows XP compatibility mode. I got an external floppy drive and tried to load my Wordperfect diskettes, but nothing happens, no error sign, nothing. Any advice on how to load it?

That is so old.....it's on floppies. WordPerfect 15, is not much money to buy $30 here in Canada, or download Open Office from openoffice.org, it's free and works well. You won't be doing yourself any favours using a program that old even if it's just basic typing....time to move forward. Windows 7 has an XP compatibility mode.......but not a DOS mode, and I suspect that is why the old program does not run....written in dos...long ago.

I agree and would like to add that Openoffice can open any old files you may have and resave them in different formats (even in MS formats and can export to PDF for sharing).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thanks, but if possible, I want to keep WordPerfect 6.1. In many ways it is better and much easier to use than the later versions of WordPerfect and I am much more productive with it. That is why I want to have it on my new computer. WordPerfect 6.1 worked fine on Windows XP so I would think it should also work with Windows XP compatibility mode.
