Cant install programs, couse they cant write to temp folder.

December 19, 2011 at 04:13:49
Specs: Windows 7, Pentium e5200 @2.5ghz / 2gb ram
Writing some programs, it shows it can't write to temp folder:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/...
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7002/...

Then, when i write updates to win:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7024/...
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7148/...

If I try to write that net4 fixes manually i get this:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7156/...

Tried to manually turn on win installer, checked variables, cleaned temp folder, still the same happens. This also was happening before I reinstalled windows. Any help?

"This also was happening before I reinstalled windows"
Did you reinstall over the top of the existing install?

Yes, it created windows.old folder, but I don't think it's a problem, because it creates all new registries ect.

Ok, your probably right, when I get this problem, I start low & work my way up. Sometimes after starting low, I can jump to 4 or 4.5.

Try the following steps:

Click the following link to download the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/ar...

Use the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool to uninstall any .NET Framework version present in your system.

Restart the computer.

Download and install the following components:

.Net Framework 1.1

.Net Framework 1.1 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Nope, that didn't help, I still get those can't write to temp errors. Now net3.5 installer doesn't even start, but 1.1 installed successfully.

After cleanup & installing 1.1, did you try MS Updates?

I see on the above page it offers a new version 4, did you try that?

If that dos'nt work, try this one.

Well it just shows that it's extracting files, and nothing happens. I think the MAIN problem is that it can't write to temp dir :/

Did you try right clicking on the program & > Run as Administrator.

Try disconnecting from the internet, disable your Firewall & Antivirus & see if you can install the Updates.

This program will sort out most problems.

Even though you have cleaned the temp folder, run this.

TFC
http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/TFC.exe
http://www.itxassociates.com/OT-Too...
Please download TFC - Temporary File Cleaner by Old Timer, saving it to your desktop.
* Open the file and close any other windows.
* It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
* Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish it's job
* Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Refer my post #10

Very important that you run TFC & reboot after every try or install, want to keep the temp folders very, very clean.
