Thanks to all of you who replied to my question. It was a matter of urgency since I needed it for a summer school class. I finally gave up and got a download of Microsoft Home and Student 2010. Next time I have a question I will definitely go here.

I doubt it. You could get a Windows XP Virtual Machine and run the Office 97 in that. Office 2003 is the oldest that works in Windows 7 without a patch.

You've been helped by a 14 year old.

Apparently only in XP mode:

If you want the functionality of Office '97, I'd just switch to Open Office or Libre Office:

Hi there,
I am running Office 2000 Premium on a Win7 Pro Lenovo Laptop and it works just fine. In those days it came on 2 CDs (not DVDs) and all features such as Word, MS Pub, Power point etc, etc working just great as they worked 12 years ago. Before I run it on an old desktop and it worked fine also.
Cheers Peter

Office 2002 Works fine in Windows 7 although you might need SP3 to make it work properly.
