cant format my 2nd hdd

Specs: Windows 7
ok i just got a a second hdd becuse my main hdd is just about full it's a raptor 150gb 32mb cache 10000 rpm that i boot from, and about 85% full, so i got a 500gb hitachi deskstar 16mb cache 7200 rpm.i installed it and when i booted up windows instaled it right off the jump when i go into disk management it shows my main disk 0 as my c drive and then the new drive as disk 1 so far im stoked but then i right click on it to format and everything is grayed out but delete volume and help...wich was no help...and above it has no assigned drive letter and i cant figure out what im doing wrong ...got any ideas ..i know its gonna be simple just user stupidity right???? plz

is it set by jumper to be a slave?
do the delete volume thing, then format and create partitions..assign letter/name

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

If that does not work (it should), check the manufacturer's site to see if it has a utility for initializing, partitioning, formatting.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
