I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate(fresh install) on a friend's computer and they want to use Windows Mail as their email program. She had Windows XP previously on this machine so I copied the various dbx files from XP so that I could import them in Windows Mail in Windows 7. I have been trying the suggested processes of 'enabling' Windows Mail in Windows 7 so that she could use Windows 7 default email program. The suggestions that I have found involve going from Windows Mail in Vista to Windows 7, not starting with a fresh install of Windows 7. I have used the 'take ownership', 'enable full control' and a couple of the 'registry modifications' to enable Windows Mail. I also used to 'attribute modifications' to enable the mail program. None of these steps I have taken have been successful and I do not see the 'winmail.exe' file in the Windows Mail folder. The friend that I am helping is a very, very senior citizen and is very, very anal so getting this done is very important to her. Any replies and suggestions are greatly respected and appreciated. Help.
