cant delete XP windows.old folder in Win 7

Specs: Windows 7
i just installed windows 7 ultimate and i went to my computer and saw tht half of my hard drive is being used by windows xp so i tried to delete it and went i put delete it said i need administrater approval though i am the administrator. can you help me on how to delete the old windows xp files i have 227gb and 112gb in usage. thanx in advance

did you not read the advisor before installing windows 7? You say you did an upgrade. An upgrade is NOT possible to do from XP.
If you did a fresh install then XP will be in a folder called windows old. Did you find that to delete?

yes i made a fresh install and yes i found that. how do i delete the files from the windows old?

have you tried tapping f8 on bootup, going into safe mode and them deleting the folder?
