Thanks but the problem isn't with fb, it's with hotmail. All my contacts are correct in fb they are also correct in my hotmail but people that I've deleted are still in my hotmail calendar so I keep getting birthday reminders for. People that aren't important to me :-(

If they are actually displayed in your Hotmail calendar then just right click the birthday icon and choose 'delete' - you have to have both 'birthday calendar' and '<your> calendar' ticked on the left side of the page to have them displayed. Also, check you haven't got them in any other calendars, live Windows Live, because they will keep syncronising.

Thank you for your reply, I have already tried deleting that way but it always says 'unable to delete, try. Again later' and I think this is because they are neither in my fb or my hotmail, I only have 2 contacts in my windows live so it can't be that either.
I have been through everything on hotmail and it says if you delete people then they will automatically be deleted from calendar but for some reason it hasn't.
it's really annoying receiving reminders for people I no longer keep in touch with but I need it for people I do keep in touch with so don't want to turn it off :(

OK, try this: Click on start & then your username. If AppData is visible, click on that, then local/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail/Calendars. (If it isn't visible, click on the Tools menu, then Folder Options, then 'View' and click the button next to 'show hidden files') Open the folder for your hotmail address and delete the calendar file in there. Log back into Hotmail and click on the send/receive/update all - this should re-sync your calendar. If the error is still there then it sounds like an issue at Hotmail's end in which case try posting the problem on Hotmail's Calendar forum:
