Not knowing any better, I deleted the default Admin account in my new Windows 7 laptop. Not much of a problem since I created a new admin account for myself first. Today I tried to create a user account for a friend (via control panel) and discovered that although it "looked" like I created the account, I kept getting a user profile service error and couldn't login with it. No new folders are created in the users directory either.
Anything I can do besides reinstall Windows? Thanks.
if its new, save your files and just do a factory restore, start again, always have 2 admin accounts with different passwords, (JIC).
depending on the machine you will need to tap a F key at boot to get into restore options.i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
Thanks Prince. That had occurred to me but I'd rather not lose all the tweaks and applications. Took me about 2 weeks to get everything "just right". So are you saying there is no registry hack or command line trick to get back that original Admin account? The only thing I can do is revert to factory defaults? Even without the original Admin account, is there any way to add new users? No matter what I do, the machine will only recognize MY personal account.
