Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3, 1gb

I'm a local tech guy, just work from home and get a few customers a month. I have a problem that I can't figure out. First I can't update windows because it says the service isn't running. And I can't get the wireless to connect to anything, it tries using any connection then says 'the connection was unsuccessful'. I've looked around the internet and did lots of different suggestions, like reset winsock and related internet fixing stuff. I finally came to maybe the source. It is a service called "network location awareness", I can't start it at all and it seems to be important. What I don't understand is why wireless and windows updates are both not working. Wired works perfectly.

I've done all forms of virus checks from every website's forums and usually the virus part of my work is what I'm best at.

Forgive me for my lack of proper lingo, I just fix them

Dell Studio laptop (I couldn't find any model number on it), running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Let me know of anything else you need from me to help

Please go to Start > Search (or Run) and type: services.msc Search for Windows Update and verify that the service is both Started, and set to start Automatically.

Since you mentioned it, also type msinfo32 for a little bit of info including your system model number.

Apologies if I don't respond to your reply immediately. I don't check this site daily, but you're welcome to PM me as a reminder.

Windows Update is set to autostart but when I try starting it, it comes up with 'Windows could not start the Windows Update service on Local Computer" 'Error 126: The specified module could not be found'.

Here is the system info:
