Solved Can't connect to the internet wirelessly

July 20, 2015 at 21:35:40
Specs: Windows 7
Installed windows 7 on a laptop and now when visiting a friend, I can't log on to the internet on their router. I have their security key but windows 7 asks for a password and username. There is no username for the router and the password doesn't work. My smartphone connects easily so I know its something in my computer.

✔ Best Answer
Are you sure you are not trying to log onto their home network?
Might you have malware that is trying to log onto their home network/their computer(s)?
It's possible to run Malwarebytes.
Before opening up your browser, go to your Wifi icon on the tray and see if their router is listed there, if so then select it and then you will be asked to enter the key.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thank you for your suggestions. I ended up deleting all of the Wifi choices on my computer, then it worked.
