Cant connect to internet. Please Help!

Specs: Windows 7, 4 gb
I cant connect to internet on my computer (runs windows 7). I can connect to my local network (consisting of 2 computers) I can connect to the internet with the other computer though(runs windows xp). I have tried restarting modem/router (both) tried to flush dsn and ip and reset. Used the troubleshooter of windows 7. I've scanned for viruses and malware and for registry issues. So far nothing has helped. IPV 4 and 6 that they are automatic. Also i have disabled everything unnecessary. Ive also used the restore system to the previouse day when it did connect. Also i pinging the computer and any external site works, and it connects the computer to the net but when i try to use a browser (ie, chrome, ff) no pages get loaded. I checked the browser settings.

In a CMD window, can you ping a domain name, such as www.google.com?

In Internet Options/connections/LAN make sure there is no proxy entered.

Otherwise, post the results of ipconfig /all

Seems I got it working by using system restore to restore to even earlier date. (but no proxies and yes i could ping sites by name)

uncheck install windows updates automatically, it may be that you are downloading and installing a update that is causing your problem, because a system restore fixes the issue for a while.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....
