Can't boot Acer Veriton desktop without PS2 keyboard & mouse

Specs: Windows 7
It seems that Acer Veriton M2610 desktop PC will not start without PS2 keyboard and mouse. I have only USB devices. Is there a workaround the PS2 requirement or do I need to purchase a PS2 mouse and keyboard?

There are USB to PS2 adapters around which might work for you:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Apparently they normally come with USB keyboard and mouse but have PS/2 ports:

And exactly what do you mean by '. . . will not start. . . '? Is the unit dead or do you get some kind of error messages?

You may have some bad USB ports or some other hardware problem.

If the unit is powering up but keyboard and mouse don't work you might try clearing the cmos. With the power cord removed open the case and locate the 'clear cmos' jumper. It's probably a 3-pin arrangement with the jumper over 2 pins in the standby position. Jumper it to the clear position for a few seconds and then back to standby. Put it back together and power it up.

Please note that for a USB keyboard to work at start up (before Windows drivers are loaded) the keyboard must be plugged into a USB port directly on the motherboard. This usually means a rear USB port. Many front ports, some rear ports that are run off third party expansion chips or internal hubs, some USB 3 ports (depending on the chipset and if third party expansion chips are used), and any port run through an external hub. If you have USB 2 and USB 3 ports, use the USB2 port.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
