Can't access files/folders through explorer

Specs: Windows 7
Hi All,

I'm an IT tech, and have just faced the most strange problem. I have downloaded some files using firefox into my downloads folder and I cannot see the files through Windows Explorer (I can only see some files). Now the funny thing is, when I go to the download history in firefox, right click on the file name and choose "Open Containing Folder", I can see all the files.

1- Files are not hidden
2- I'm using an Admin account, I have Full Control over the files/folders and have checked all permissions
3- Tried copying files to another folder but the copies cannot be seen through My Computer (unless I use the explorer session that I ran through firefox "open containing folder")
4- Copied files onto a USB drive, connected the drive to another PC but still can't see them. Connected the drive back to my PC, the file is there but only through that explorer session that I ran through firefox)
5- I have Ubuntu installed (Dual boot) still can't see the files still.

OS: Windows 7
Security: Avast Antivirus, ZoneAlarm Extreme

I just don't understand why I can only see the files when I browse the computer through Firefox !!!!!!!!

it maybe that ff is not saving files to the folder you expect.
open ff options
In the Downloads section of the Main Preferences window is an option labeled Save files to:. Accompanied by a radio button and activated by default, this option allows you to specify the exact location where you would like your completed downloads to be placed.

To modify this location, click on the button labeled Browse. After clicking this button, a Choose Download Folder window will appear prompting you to select the desired location. After making the change, you should see it reflected in the Main Preferences window.

The final option in the Downloads section states "Always ask me where to save files". If activated, you will be prompted for a save location each and every time you download a file through your Firefox browser.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Thanks for your reply mate, it took me like 2 days to figure it out. It wasn't firefox, but ZoneAlarm web browser security created a virtual system that I could only access through ff.

The files were encrypted and hidden in the middle of nowhere to protect my PC. The files could be seen in my download folder only when i run explorer through firefox, but when i go to my computer, i can't see those specific files that i have downloaded (although i could see the rest of the contents of the folder)

copy and paste wouldn't work, even when i tried extracting the files somewhere else, i still could see them through the explorer session i ran through ff (by right clicking on the download window, and selecting Open Containing Folder")

It was the weirdest thing i have ever seen, I could see the files, open them, but can't copy them anywhere else !!!
