Cant access Documents & settings folder in W7

Acer / Aspire x3910

Specs: Windows 7, 3.066 GHz / 4061 MB
documents and setting shows a lock icon. I have tried everything and I cannot open it. When I click on it, the box comes up and says Documents and Settings is not accessible, Access is denied.
I just bought this darned ACER computer with Windows 7 which I am learning to really hate. I also cannot use Sent Link or Send Page by email, they are not highlighted.
I have been working on a solution to these two problems for a month.
first how the heck do I open Documents and Settings?

Id you just bought it then you should have been the one to initiate and activate windows. In this process you would have created the initial user which would have been an administrator by default. If you did not do this or there already was an administrator account that you do not have access to, return it. You got someone else's return or a display sample. If you paid for new, you should get new. If they sold you a demo or an open box at a discount, go back and have them save your files and return it to factory new condition so you can create your own administrator identity.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Windows 7 has the files you seek under users I believe. Doc's and settings is no longer used.

there is a doc and setting file but I cannot open
In Windows 7, Documents and Settings exists to support poorly designed programs. Its security is heavily restrictive, and it points to the new users location, called Users.

I guess if you have to boot to safe mode and then access that way.

Kinda technical, but this article on TechNet describes the new locations, and more importantly, how to discover them for yourself.
