Specs: Windows 7 64bit, Intel i5-4440/ 8GB
Please help me. I have just downloaded VueScan 9 which should contain drivers for Windows 7 64bit for Canon scanners. I have a Canon CanoScan D1250U2. It is not working. Any ideas? thanks Douglas

I had the 2400U and it was a very good photo scanner. I gave up, it wouldn't even work with Vista and I tried all Canon's drivers. Fortunately I don't do much scanning these days so it is available on my old XP if I ever need to use it. What I'm kinda saying is I don't fancy your chances of getting it to work on Win 7 64 bit.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Works fine for me, though it's an Epson scanner in my case.

When you installed VueScan, it would have asked you if you have already installed a manufacturer's scanner driver, to which you should reply "NO" - did you do that?

Also, you have to open VueScan to use the scanner. Scanner can't be used any other way (eg from within a graphics application).

I have a Canon scanner, not Epson!
It did not ask me whether I had installed a scanner of any kind. I had not installed anything anyway. Paid USD 80 and it can't find my scanner. :(
Thanks for your reply. Douglas

It's an old scanner; pre-Vista era.
If Canon themselves don't have a compatible driver, I don't see how a third party can magick one up. (though I don't know what claims Vuescan make).

Can you contact Vuescan and see what they say? $80 isn't exactly a paltry sum to part with, so worth seeing how far you can get with them.
A refund maybe?

This is Canons list of drivers for you scanner;

No 64-bit drivers offered, The latest being Vista 32-bit.
There's a chance this driver may install in Compatibilty Mode, though I have my doubts.

Hi Peet,
Thanks for your commonsense thoughts. :(
Vuescan refunded my money, so they don't believe it will work with Canoscan. Bit sad really because I LOVE my scanner. I might keep my old computers and just run them when I want to scan something.
Best Wishes
Douglas

That scanner appears to be 12 years old. If you were willing to spend $80 just to keep it running you should be willing to spend a little more to replace it with a faster, better scanner. Scanners have come a long way in 12 years.

I suggest you get one that is both a flat bed and a sheet fed type. These are very useful. Consider an all in one printer as an alternative if your printer is also long in the tooth.
