Have you tired this yahoo offering?

I think in the dim 'n distant past I have had a similar problem; and managed to re-install as per above.

Failing the above... Try this freebie utility; often recommended here for "stubborn" items"

http://filehippo.com/download_revo_...

When you run it (presumably it may also install itself...?) use the custom option NOT the automatic...; and carefully watch for, and uncheck any "pre-checked boxes which otherwise will allow the installation of assorted "stuff" you neither need nor want.

Thank you I will check out the links.

Neither of the links help me. Yahoo will not allow me to reinstall it. The uninstallers do not find the Yahoo program, therefore they do not work either.

Thank you for trying. Any other suggestions?

"Any other suggestions?"
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it onto your Desktop. If your default download location is not the Desktop, drag it out of it's location onto the Desktop.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
If we have to run Farbar more than once, refer this SS.
http://i.imgur.com/yUxNw0j.gif
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the Desktop.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt).
The logs are large, upload them using Zippy ( No account/registration needed ) or upload to a site of your choosing. Give us the links please.

very long shot... run ccleaner:

http://filehippo.com/download_cclea...

install it using the manual/custom option - NOT the automatic.

Carefully watch for and uncheck any pre-checked boxes other than the one for the utility itself. That way you will install "only" the utility itself, and not a host of other stuff you neither need nor want.

Sometimes that yahoo stuff is included as an add-on with your browser so you might check to see if it shows there. Some general info here:

Hi Johnw,

I saw the listings in the Farbar logs. I ran Geek Uninstaller, but it still did not list Yahoo in the programs. :(

"but it still did not list Yahoo in the programs"
Correct, they need to be manually removed.
Has that been successful?

The Geek Uninstaller is for using in the future.

Sorry I misunderstood the message, Johnw. Could you give me step-by-step instructions as to how to manually remove the files? Do I use the Farbar tool to do that?

" Do I use the Farbar tool to do that?"
No.

The steps are already in my post #11

Open up Firefox & remove this plug in.
FF Plugin-x32: @messenger.yahoo.com/YahooMessengerStatePlugin;version=1.0.0.6 ->

Open up Windows Explorer & remove these.

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\
This one > nsl3524.tmp\ymsgr_suite_setup.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Yahoo!\Shared\
This one > npYState.dll [2012-05-25] (Yahoo! Inc.)

C:\Program Files (x86)\
This one > Yahoo!

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\
This one > Yahoo!

Thank you, Johnw. I removed the files from Windows Explorer. I was only able to disable the plugin from Firefox, at first, but it seems to have disappeared after I removed the others. (I hope so.)

What do I do next?
