Cannot Reply or Forward mail in Outlook 2007

Microsoft Outlook 2007
April 24, 2010 at 08:26:48
Specs: Windows 7
I've got three email accounts in Outlook under
WIndows 7 on a new laptop. All three
accounts can receive mail, but the options to
reply or forward are 'greyed out' on the buttons
at the top of the reading pane and in the drop
down menus. Also, 'Options' and 'Customise'
are greyed out, too. The settings all appear to
be OK. The Email Accounts wizard confirms
they are all set up correctly, but no way to
reply or forward on any of the accounts. Any
ideas?

Thanks

Greg

Odd - I've solvl problem. Despite entering the Key number to
activate (I thought) the 60 day trial of Office 2007 on my new
laptop it hadn't registered that I was 'converting' the
installation to a live trial. Once I had done that all the
problems were fixed (I was pointed towards the answer when I
tried to edit a PowerPoint file and all the options were greyed
out in that as well.

But of course, Office is supported by Windows 7 - even MS
wouldn't be that daft! :-) Why you get that message I can't
say.

But - thanks for trying and the comment!

I had the exact same issue with Outlook under Windows 7 recently (after Windows 7 was installed on a new hard drive for me): "...the options to reply or forward are 'greyed out' on the buttons at the top of the reading pane and in the drop down menus. Also, 'Options' and 'Customise' are greyed out, too."
Greg's solution, posted April 24, 2010 at 15:10:44 Pacific, solved the issue for me. Many thanks for this helpful website & to Greg.
