Cannot open desktop icons

March 29, 2013 at 19:14:40
Specs: Windows 7
When I click on an icon on my desktop, it will not open, but instead goes to the bottom menu on my screen into a file library. You can view the minimized files there, but they will not open either. I can however close them by clicking on the x in the upper right hand corner. The problem may have something to do with the fact that I recently moved several desktopped items, within the same category, into new files, to create more space on my desktop. (I did this by selecting NEW folder, after right clicking on the desktop screen.)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you created a new folder then the old icon (shortcut) has the wrong path.

Simply delete the old icon (shortcut) and create a new icon (shortcut) by right clicking on the new folder and choosing to create shortcut then cut and paste the shortcut to the desktop.

You may need to rename the shortcut to suit. Right click on it to see that option.
