Cannot get past DMI to boot, win 7, usb

Specs: Windows 7, 2700+/4gb 5300
Hi all, I have a Gigabyte ga-ma78gm-us2h with a black edition 2700+, 4gb of ram......I can't seem to get it to recognize my 16gb sandisk cruzer on boot to load win 7.

I've made it bootable, put win 7 on it, and rebooted choosing the boot order (tried both usb fdd and usb hdd) but it will either hang at DMI or simply go to my old installation.

and yes, i've unplugged everything, even the hubs lol.

any suggestions? i've done hundreds of installs but this is my first USB OS install.

Thanks in advance!

Power off and remove ac plug. Press power button a few times. Put usb in. Power up to bios. See if the usb shows up under the regular hard drives. Move it up in order.
