cannot connect using telnet to a device ip and port

Specs: Windows XP
I am attempting to telnet to an ip port and I get "SSH-2.0-Macona SSH", follow by a logged out (()&()^*#%, connection lost to host. I am being get out of the device due to security reason?

Telnet client does not support encrypted ssh connections.
You have to use an alternative client program, e.g. PuTTY, to manage it.

ssh to it instead.

Putty ought to work if you select the correct connection.

There are some issues too with some clients.
