Can you shrink the volume that your OS is installed on in Disk Management without screwing up Windows 7? I thought this was a no no unless you had Partition Magic or some program like that but I really don't know. I would like to create a couple of partitions on the hard disk that comes with a new computer with Win7 installed on it. The drives are so large these days and this computer is not going to have any graphics nor videos stored on it.

About the only safe way is to create a backup first, then use the shrink tool in Windows 7. I have used it many times without fail but who knows.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
