Solved can not rename external harddrive

November 7, 2018 at 06:23:36
Specs: Win 7, 4 GB
I want to save my files and folders in more CLEARLY marked Harddisks to avoid confusion between A:/, B:/ an F:/

A number of internal and external harddisk drives have been succesfully renamed. One harddisk is connected via USB2, one harddisk is connected to the motherboard.

But a Western Digital MyPassport Ultra, connected by USB3 refuses to be renamed in Windows 7 Windows Explorer, but it does show up with the name MyPassport in Minitool Partition Wizard.

Help appreciated

✔ Best Answer
Try Administrative Tools>Disk Manager, right click on the drive there and select Properties. Type the name in there and Save/Apply and close.
If this does not work and the drive does not have anything on it you want to keep, delete all partitions in Disk Manager and create a new partition and format it to NTFS. Then name it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
