"I had some work done on my laptop"

What did you have done & who did it? Did you check Device Manager to make sure the wireless network drivers are installed? Also, you listed Win7 as your OS but your posted in the XP forum, which OS do you have?

take it back to whoever worked on your laptop and let them sort out the problem...I presume you paid for the repairs so you should have some sort of warranty on the repair...

Hi,

Run Windows 7 Network Troubleshooter before performing the following steps: Right-click the network icon in the notification area of your taskbar, and then click "Troubleshoot problems".

1.Check Device Manager for wireless card. If detected follow next step, else load BIOS defaults.

2.If wireless network not found - Change the Card properties - Advance Properties tab;
a. Change Channel Number to 6 or 11 and test
b. Change Mode to “b/g" and test
c. Disable Bluetooth Collaboration and test.
3.Go to Power options > Wireless adapter settings > Change to Max performance on battery.

4.Update Wireless card drivers from support dell.com site using wired connection.

Kindly revert and let us know the status.

Thanks & Regards

@ Debbie, please stop telling people to update the BIOS. If the device has worked in the past, it is not a BIOS issue. Updating the BIOS can be tricky for some and if they do it wrong, they can ruin their system.

XpUser4Real,

In his #4 comment he said to update the wireless card drivers and the BIOS. I deleted the part about the BIOS.

Hi THX 1138,

Well… I agree with your suggestion and can relate to the same. Since customer had tried most of the steps so thought of suggesting BIOS update as a last resort still if not fixed, I will take care of this in the future. Cheers!
