Can I use my 2nd HD winxp to win7

Specs: Windows XP, duocore 2.8GH/2GB
Dear migration guru. I would like to migrate from winxp to win7.

Unfortunately many of my installed programs are not yet compatible with win7.

As a compromise, can I use my 2nd internal hard disk as a storage medium ?

Or will I lose those programs because the C disk is then running win 7?

P.S. If the question has been answered already I can't find it in the knowledge base so I would be most grateful if you could point me to it or to some article.

PPS
If not possible to have both systems interconnected then there is a Spanish saying :-
Mejor el mal conocido que el bueno a conocer

You won't be able to use your programs that are on the XP drive while running Windows 7.
You have a couple of choices, if you have a new drive that you are going to install W7 on, then you can leave your XP drive in place and install W7 on the new drive by booting in with W7 disk, choose custom instalation, select disk tools and select the new drive as the destination for the W7 instalation.
This will allow you dual boot between XP and W7.
The other option is to get the Profesional or Ultimate version that allows you to run XP from W7.
This would require the reinstalation of all your XP programs.
